The Ukraine never finished the new sarcophagus for the Chernobyl Power Plant following the collapse of the Eurozone in 2014 and the financial crisis. Since the old dome was constantly decaying, radiation levels increased, and very soon the zone was closed to civilians. Aside from sheltering criminals, army deserters, scum and all the unwanted people in society, it soon became a place where the society-unwanted live. Despite being a dangerous, potential target-filled place, the Zone became a perfect test bed for contractors and the military. Tested by small teams or even by standalone mercenaries, combat equipment, weapons and electronics. A mercenary is sent into the Zone by the player. In anticipation of him making it through the interior of the plant, his mission has been generously funded by Death TV - which hopes for a good show, paying additional bidding for gruesome kills.
