Rail shooter like the first game, where you shoot at zombies and other monsters that get between you and your objective. Although the English version that is being distributed by Empire Interactive unfortunately doesn't ship with the PC gun like its Japan counterpart, HOTD2 still manages to be a fun and addictive FPS that everyone should enjoy. HOTD2 is a similar game not based on a shoot 'em up approach to its predecessor. When you rescue a civilian from a monster, you'll often gain power-ups or, perhaps even better, a new path to follow. By doing something different, you can open up new branches of the game (e.g. saving a life, rather than watching him die in the last game). You can select from a variety of arcade functions, as well as extra effects. There are 5 game modes including Arcade and Boss, 12 different kinds of zombies including the chainsaw wielding Max and the disgusting Ebitan. End-level bosses are appropriately difficult to kill, although some of them are far too easy to dispose of once you find their weak spots. The second version of HOTD2 provides excellent multi-player options (over the LAN) along with six chapters of mayhem. There is one prerequisite for finishing one of the best rail shooters ever made: near-superhuman reflexes and tenacity. Additionally, there are multiple endings to keep things interesting.
